At the moment Im finding it hard to get motivated with the paint. So I sat down with David Attenbourgh on the TV and scribbled away at a Tiger. This was probably my longest project with a pencil taking 4 or 5 hours. Im pretty pleased with the results although the photo of the picture isn't great it seem to of lose a couple of tones. If another graphite picture appears here before a painting please leave abusive comments
Paul, this is a very good rendering. It's obvious that your very at home and comfortable with pencils in hand... Don't feel you HAVE to paint. This may be your choice of mediums.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't feel you have to apologize for that.
I worked in oils for about 20 years, pencil was a side thing I'd always done, but watercolor was always in the back of my mind ..
Today when someone asks me, I tell them I paint watercolors.. (although you know I do pencil)also.
You go through many phases before you find the joy and satisfaction of one certain medium and in your case it may very well be graphite. It's just a journey that we are on and may never reach the destination. Enjoy what you do as you travel that road. It will come to you ...see you in the forum >> BJ
You certainly can draw Paul and your love of wildlife shows in your pieces. I love to capture wildlife on paper but sadly drawing does not come easily to me so I stick with watercolour often with no drawing but using the brush. I know my work would benefit it I practiced my drawing skills more but I am so keen to have a brush in my hand every waking moment. Your skill at drawing will serve you well with your painting and I look forward to seeing them as you paint
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for constructive and welcome encouragement. yes I do feel comfortable with a pencil in my hand rather than a brush but love them both. I hope to improve and time will tell where my level will finish
