I finally managed to get paints out after a small pencil and pastel addiction. I wanted to get back to painting birds and chose one of my favourite winter visitors the Snow Bunting. To see these little crackers I do have to travel to North Wales where they are very regular around Rhyl area. Im pretty pleased with it and really enjoyed playing with paint. Perhaps the background could of been darker. The Daler Rowner paper impressed me and I can see me becoming to love it.
Paul your drawing skills are fantastic yet again in your last post. Your elusive bunting is fab too. I haven't managed to see one yet. Love the background top right textures and colours.
ReplyDeleteI knew what I wanted to say and when the comments opened up I see Laura has said it almost word for word, so will just say NICE
ReplyDeleteI really love this background with the soft colors, it enhances the bird beautifully !
ReplyDeleteThankyou Laura,Lorraine and Jane
ReplyDeleteGreat work, I like the background with it's soft washes looks very nice against the texture of the wood and draws your attention towards the bird. I recently found a great deal on the Daler Rowney paper, it takes all my rubbing out very well.
ReplyDeleteWonderful little bird, and I concur with Laurel the background is a super compliment to the star of the show your bird. Your venture into pastels was much more successful than mine was... your watercolors are delightful.
ReplyDeleteYour painting of the little bird is gorgeous as is the beautiful background. Am so loving all your artwork and am following you. I do hope you will join in with Paint Party Friday where far more artists can truly appreciate your beautiful artwork. Annette
